Nintendo Anime
(3ds E-shop application reviewed)
Nintendo Anime Channel is not a game but a video streaming service so review wise this is going to be pretty short. You can download the app on a Nintendo 3ds, 2ds or New 3ds and it is free. There is no subscription fee, you can just watch videos the second you download it. Currently the Australian version only has four episodes of the Kirby anime and four episodes of the pokemon anime. The Pokemon anime starts at the Hoen season which fits with the newly released Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire games. Eventually if the service remains supported we will get the rest of the Kirby anime, more Pokemon episodes and hopefully other animes like Inazuma 11 (it is an anime based on a ds soccer game).
In my time using it, the videos have loaded quickly and without any problem. The actual content is limited so the quality of the service in the end will come down to how it is supported in the future. Here are just a few of the shows I would love to see added to the service in the future. Some of these are cartoons but I don't see why they should not be featured.
- Super Mario Land 3 and Super Mario World (not Super Mario Bros Super Show, that thing was insane)
- The Legend of Zelda cartoon
- Captain N the Game Master
- F-Zero: GP legends
And finally, a new anime based on the anime shorts for Kid Icarus. They were great and since we may not get another game in that series for another ten to twenty years the voice actors need something to do.
